Congratulations to Joe Kraus, recipient of the Meritorious Service Award!
Joseph Kraus is an academic librarian at the University of Denver (DU) Anderson Academic Commons. He is active in the Physics-Astronomy-Mathematics Division, the Sci-Tech Division, and the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Special Libraries Association (SLA). He joined SLA as a library school student at the University of Maryland-College Park in 1994, and he has been a member since then. When he moved to Denver in 1998, he happily joined the Rocky Mountain Chapter. He is also the current advisor to the SLA Student Chapter of the DU LIS Program.
Joe was nominated for the award by Connie Clem, who stated:
“Joe has been a steadfast resource for our chapter for a long time. RMSLA relies on Joe (and thanks him) for his ongoing work with student members of SLA. He makes frequent appearances at chapter events and is always engaged and ready to share ideas. He has contributed technical expertise and support to the chapter by hosting virtual events (such as with the fall 2012 Membership Meeting). And he makes RMSLA look good by association. Joe’s overall professional excellence and his pattern of contributing his expertise to the information profession, via SLA and in other ways, reflects well on the Rocky Mountain Chapter.”
A special thank you goes out to Laura Cullerton, Dedre Henderson, and Maura McGrath for serving on the awards committee.
