Come and learn what science content is available through open access resources! We will go over what is new with old favorites and discover some new tools as well. Topics covered will include: federated search tools for open access science resources, major science publisher open access initiatives, subject specific resources, and open access data sharing efforts. We will also touch on the status of open access science resources, discuss current issues and challenges, and predict future directions for this area.

About Matthew:
Matthew Von Hendy is the owner of Green Heron Information Services, a research and information services business that provides scientific, technical and environmental information to businesses, non-profits, and individual consultants and researchers. He is an accomplished research librarian with close to 20 years of professional experience working in a variety of science and technical libraries. He was a Research Librarian at the National Academies of Science, where he provided expert level research to teams of scientists and engineers; his work there was cited in 10 different National Academy reports. Von Hendy has also worked at the NASA Center for Aerospace Information, the EPA Public Access/Headquarters Information Center, and Strayer University. Von Hendy is also involved in the Special Library Association (SLA) and Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP). He has been chair of the Public Policy section of the SLA Social Science Division for the past 2 years.
